Melva Weisberger was the third and final child to be born to Benesh and Grace Weisberger, with her older brother Aaron and older sister Monica coming before her. The family were located some three miles from central Paris in Montrouge, France, where her mother stayed at home with Melva and her siblings while her father owned his own law firm. Their upbringing was stable, predictable and above all comfortable, something Melva took advantage of in all her childish naivety. Life for the little dark haired girl was easy but mundane, and teachers would often comment on Melva's lack of attention and focus in class. Always a day dreamer, Melva sought out the excitement that her real life failed to provide by writing stories and drawing pictures, neither of which she was very good at, but a talent for writing stories morphed into a talent for acting them out when she joined her school's drama club at the age of thirteen.
In many ways, her teenage years were where Melva's idyllic childhood started to go wrong. She tried her first cigarette and had her first taste of alcohol when she was fourteen, falling in with a group of friends who were instantly labeled as 'the wrong crowd' by her traditional parents. It only took a year of partying and staying out late before she was taken out of school and transferred to a private, all girl's boarding school in London. She was miserable without her friends but being the new girl gave Melva a certain air of mystery and she took advantage of her peers' curiosity to secure herself a solid (and popular) social group.
Despite this, school breaks when Melva returned home to Paris were always the highlight of her year. She started dating a boy from her previous school when she was sixteen and the two moved to London when Melva dropped out of high school at the age of 17 to pursue the bright lights of the city. Acting was all Melva had ever been sure she wanted to do, and it was with her boyfriend's encouragement that she began to attend at open auditions around the city on a regular basis.
